FCT, Abuja - The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has said the national grid has been restored.

The electricity network was restored after the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) — two of the country’s biggest union federations — suspended their strike on Tuesday, June 4.

The Punch said NUEE's national president, Adebiyi Adeyeye, confirmed the restoration.

Adeyeye said:

“The strike has been suspended, which means the grid has come back to normal. It is on already."

General strike brings Nigeria to a standstill

Organised labour shut down the national electrical grid and disrupted flights across the country as they embarked on an indefinite strike over the federal government’s failure to agree on a new minimum wage.

The strike is the fourth embarked upon by the NLC and TUC took office in May 2023.

Strike: Lady unhappy with national grid disconnection

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that a Nigerian lady was not happy about the strike action declared by the NLC and the TUC and the subsequent disconnection of the national grid.

The lady said the strike does not make sense as it would merely make the masses suffer needlessly.

According to her, the strike action over minimum wage would punish the citizens instead of the government.
